Rema Sets the Stage for His Next Era With New Single “OH NO”

Afrobeats superstar Rema is already moving on to his next chapter. Following the release of “TEA” earlier this year, the Nigerian singer has confirmed that a new single, “OH NO,” will arrive this Friday, September 11, adding another piece to what is beginning to look like a larger musical rollout.

While there has been growing speculation around a possible new album, Rema has yet to officially confirm a full-length project, leaving the new release to carry its own intrigue as fans try to work out what he is building toward.

“OH NO” follows “TEA,” Rema’s first single of 2026, and extends a year that has so far been relatively measured from one of Afrobeats’ most internationally visible artists. Rather than flooding the market with releases, Rema has spent much of his career understanding the value of anticipation, allowing individual songs to create their own moments. The decision to return with another single several months after “TEA” makes Friday’s release particularly interesting, especially if these songs are ultimately connected to a larger body of work.

The timing also puts renewed attention on Rema’s position within Afrobeats’ global evolution. Since “Calm Down” became a worldwide phenomenon, particularly through its remix with Selena Gomez, his music has increasingly existed between Nigerian pop, Afrobeats, trap and contemporary global sounds.

That crossover has not erased the distinctiveness that made Rema stand out in the first place, if anything, it has given him a larger space in which to experiment. “OH NO” therefore arrives with expectations that extend beyond another standalone release, with listeners likely paying close attention to what its sound, themes and visual world might reveal about his next move.

For now, the details surrounding “OH NO” remain deliberately limited, but the date is set: Friday, September 11. Whether the single becomes another standalone chapter or part of a rollout toward the album fans have been speculating about, Rema has once again created a reason to pay attention before the music even arrives. The next phase of his catalogue may still be taking shape, but by Friday, listeners will have another piece of the puzzle.
