Victony Brings Summer Walker and Don Toliver Into His ‘Slick’ Era

Victony Brings Summer Walker and Don Toliver Into His ‘Slick’ Era

Victony is giving one of his biggest records a new life, recruiting Summer Walker and Don Toliver for the remix of ‘Slick’, the single that has helped define his 2026 run. The collaboration brings together three artists with distinct musical identities, placing Afrobeats, contemporary R&B and melodic hip-hop in the same conversation.

For Victony, however, the move is about more than adding international names to a record that already works. It is an opportunity to extend a hit whose appeal has travelled well beyond its Nigerian beginnings.

The original ‘Slick’, released in July, earned Victony his first solo number one on Nigeria’s Official Top 100, holding the position for three consecutive weeks. Its momentum extended to the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, where it peaked at number two and maintained that position for another three weeks.

The single later featured on STARLIFE, his sophomore album, remaining its highest-charting track in Nigeria. Those numbers establish an important point, ‘Slick’ had already demonstrated its commercial strength without the backing of American superstars.

Don Toliver’s return makes the collaboration particularly significant. His appearance on the 2023 remix of Victony and Tempoe’s ‘Soweto’, alongside Rema, helped introduce Victony’s music to a wider international audience. Their reunion draws on an existing musical relationship, with Toliver’s atmospheric melodies offering a familiar bridge between Afrobeats and American hip-hop. Summer Walker brings a different dimension to the record.

Known for her emotionally direct approach to R&B, the Atlanta singer introduces a voice that could connect ‘Slick’ with listeners beyond its established Afrobeats audience. Together, the features give Victony access to different corners of the American music market without requiring him to abandon the sound that brought the song its initial success.

The bigger question is whether the remix can create a second wave of momentum without overshadowing the original. International collaborations have become a familiar strategy for Afrobeats artists seeking to extend their records’ lives, but recognisable names alone do not guarantee a stronger song or lasting audience growth. Victony has already shown that he can command attention on his own terms.

With Summer Walker and Don Toliver now in the mix, ‘Slick’ enters a new phase, one that will be measured not simply by its streaming numbers but by how naturally these three artists occupy the same record. The foundation is already there; the remix now has to prove that the next chapter is worth hearing.
